The Solemn Opening and the Draw of the Galina Vishnevskaya II International Opera Singers Competition took place

On May 21st the Solemn Opening and the Draw of the Galina Vishnevskaya II International Opera Singers Competition took place.
The ceremony has begun with the demonstration of the documentary about Mstislav Rostropovich, to whom this Competition is dedicated. The unique snapshots of Maestro’s mutual creative activities with Sergey Prokofiev, Dmitry Shostakovich, Benjamin Britten, Kirill Kondrashin and of his concerts and his lessons with students in warm atmosphere, have appeared before the audience.

Than Elena Oparkova, the director-general of the Competition, has congratulated the contestants, guests of the Competition and has announced the Jury and Galina Vishnevskaya as a Chairperson of the Jury, who, in her part, greeted the young singers and wished artistic luck and happiness to them with all her heart.

One of the exiting moments was the Draw, which has defined the order of performances during the Second Round (May 22nd, 23rd and 24th at 12.00 pm). In the second part, laureates of the Galina Vishnevskaya I International Opera Singers Competition (year 2006), who have come especially for this concert from various cities of Russia and other countries, have performed.
