The Solemn Closing Ceremony of the Galina Vishnevskaya II International Opera Singers Competition took place in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music

On May 28, the Solemn Closing Ceremony of the Galina Vishnevskaya II International Opera Singers Competition took place in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music. The Minister of culture of the Russian Federation A.A. Avdeev, deputy head of Moscow Government Department of Culture A.E. Porvatov congratulated the winners and A. Porvatov has read the greeting by vice mayor of Moscow L.I. Shvetsova.
Head of the Jury, people’s artist of the USSR, Galina Vishnevskaya, member of the Organizing Committee and director of the Centre Elena Oporkova, have also congratulated winners of the Competition and handed over to them symbols, medals and diplomas.

In the framework of the second part of the Solemn Ceremony, the winners’ Gala-Concert took place, who performed accompanied by the Moscow City Symphonic Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic" conducted by maestro Eugene Kohn.
Galina Vishnevskaya III International Opera Singers Competition would be held in Moscow, May, 2010.

Dear friends!
I am glad to greet all of you – participants, members of the jury, organizers and, certainly, guests of the Galina Vishnevskaya II International Opera Singers Competition!
In all the times Russia has been famous for its talents, including opera talents, and now it is crucial for us to preserve these traditions, for each international forum to become socially important and worthy of history of our culture. The Competition bearing the name and organized by legendary and magnificent Galina Vishnevskaya, dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovich, must have become such event.
All of us heartily wish the winners of the Competition new artistic victories and wait for their new performances.
I would also wish Galina Vishnevskaya great and permanent success in her truly missionary field.

Two years ago the Competition bearing the name of Galina Vishnevskaya attracted and gathered in our capital bright artistic youth from all the Russia and other countries. Organized in year 2008, the II International Competition has become a festival of inspiration and art indeed, not only for the wonderful young singers, the participants of the Competition, but also for the organizers and guests of this musical forum. Just several days, - but how many remarkable moments and revelations!
I am sure that the great future is waiting for the winners of the Competition - performances at the best stages and most desired parts. And certainly, we’ll be happy to meet you at the Moscow theatres and concert halls.
With all my heart I wish participants, members of the Jury, guests, great artistic and life success, and rich musical and humane future.
